100ml Helsekorn hull-less barley groats
200ml water
500ml milk
A pinch of salt
Instructions
Note: Helsekorn hull-less barley does not require soaking before cooking.
- Bring the water to a boil.
- Add the barley and salt.
- Simmer over low heat until almost all the water is absorbed.
- Gradually add half of the milk while stirring and bring to a boil.
- Continue to add the remaining milk little by little.
- Stir regularly, and serve when the porridge has reached your preferred thickness.

Oven-Cooked Porridge
For those heading to work or wanting to spend the morning on other activities, you can cook the porridge in the oven! Bring the porridge to a boil on the stove first. Then set your oven to 80°C (175°F), place the pre-boiled porridge in the oven, and let it cook for 1½–2 hours. Before serving, you can add a little extra milk and stir the porridge as you reheat it.
